Are you wondering what pluff mudd is ? Pluff Mudd is a lowcountry term to describe the dark soft soil in the marshes. Pluff Mdd typically has a distinct oder that is the result of some combination of bacteria, water content and climate. It is not a good idea to walk out on the marsh when the tide is low. Pluff mudd is just like quick sand and you will sink .
